Okay, so the cleanse has been going very well. I made it through the 1st 6 days, stuck to the program and I have seen and felt some great changes already! Aside from a little bloating and cravings in the first few days, I have not experienced many 'cleanse' symptoms.

But today was the first official 'cleanse day,' which meant no food, only cleanse drinks and a couple 'snacks' all day!!! This was tough mentally and physically, though I think the mental side of things was almost worse for me. I really enjoy food and enjoy eating, and to have to remove that from my day was a challenge. It was educational though too. For one, it made me more aware of the difference between when i'm craving food because i'm hungry and when i'm craving it because i'm bored! I'm about to head off to bed (I figure the earlier I go to bed, the sooner tomorrow comes and I get a real meal... it'll either be a ground buffalo burger or dairy free/gluten free lasagna). I just keep telling myself that this is going to be so benefitical to me and those around me, and that there is only 3 'cleanse days' left in the remaining 23 days I have left on the program :-)

Couple of tips for those just starting your cleanse and a couple days in:
1. Made sure you are having regular bowel movements! If not, take 2 isaflush pills (instead of 1) in the evening with warm water. If it lasts a couple days... drink 1 cup of organic coffee... this should help! Also, made sure that you are drinking lots of water!!! Very very important to stay hydrated on a cleanse.
2. Don't be afraid to snack! I am eating every 1-2 hours on 'shake days' and I am still seeing great results. The worst thing you can do is let yourself get hungry. Snack options: an apple, celery, 6 almond, isagenix snacks, boiled egg, carrots, etc... just made sure it is a natural whole food (and organic is best if you can).
3. It is very important to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in each day (with the exception of your cleanse days when you should try and keep your activity level to a minimum). This will help keep everything moving and is an essential part of a successful cleanse!
4. If you find you are bloated... drink more water and add some flaxseed oil to your shake in the morning. This is most likely to be experienced in the begining stages of the cleanse, but you do not want to be in discomfort or pain. Remember, lots and lots of water is key! At least 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water (e.g. if you way 120lbs... consume 60 ounces of water minimum... 8 ounces = 1 cup)

For all you participating in this cleanse... keep up the great work! You'll be amazed how much you

So, I have now completed day 1 of the 30 day cleanse. I feel good... a little tired, but that is likely due to the fact since i've been up since 4am. I ate a few more snacks then listed on the plan, a couple carrots sticks and a small piece of one of the bars. That is okay though, you need to eat when your body honestly tells you its hungry. Drinking lots of water helped with cravings too.
Trying to down the breakfast this morning at 4:40am right before I left the house was not a good idea. For future Mondays and Wednesday mornings, I will have to plan better for that.
One note: If you have an issue with the texture of drinks, I would highly recommend blendings the shake powder with some ice and water. The powder blends well on its own, but personally I can't drink anything that has lumps (even if they are small), blending it into smoothie form made it a lot bette!
As my goal is not to lose weight, but rather to build some lean muscle, so I added 1/2 a banana to my lunch shake (I ate my 1 meal for dinner). If your main goal with this is to lose some weight and body fat, I would not recommend adding anything to the shake. But if you are feeling extra hungry one day, of need to just mix it up, berries are a great choice! That is a must better option then just breaking off the cleanse path altogether and eating a bag of chips or something! Keep in mind though, the the closer you stick to the actual program, the better your results will be. Though, you also have to structure the program around your individual goals.
Anyway, in short, I feel good, and I look forward to seeing my result as a progressive forward through this process.
Feel free to post your experiences with the cleanse, once you start! I think it'll be great to hear how everyone is doing with it!

A lot of people feel that it is not necessary to cleanse, that as long as you are eating a healthy diet, your body will work to keep itself toxin free. And yes, in an ideal world, this would be true. The body does have a regular cleansing process it goes through, and could in theory keep your body functioning optimally, provided it has all the nutrients needed to perform this task. But, therein lies the problem. In today's world we are exposed to so many toxins on a daily basis: in the air we breath, the water we drink and the food we eat. Additionally, the food we eat today is no where near as nutritious as it was even 10 years ago! Fruits and vegetables have lower vitamin content (and higher fat content!), meats are full of hormones and antibiotics (and have lower protein content!), grain products are overprocessed and full of refined sugars!...

What it comes down to is that your body is having to work overtime to rid itself of all the toxins it is being exposed to on a daily basis, but with 1/2 the tools (i.e. nutrients) it had to work with 10 years ago... This is why cleansing programs are so beneficial for people! A regular cleanse can help give your body the strength and nutrients it needs to function optimally. You will feel better, look better and have more energy! Keep in mind though, that not all cleanses are created equal, and since everybody's body is different, the same cleanse is not going to be right for everyone. When starting a cleanse, it is important to discuss it with your doctor and do your research. A good cleanse can be very benefitical, so it is important to choose the one that is right for you.
